The groundbreaking is the latest step in adding classroom and laboratory space for students.

The Cocoa Beach Aqua Science (CBAS) program began in August and is a great educational opportunity for students interested in researching and solving problems related to the Indian River Lagoon or those interested in careers in Marine Biology or Environmental Science. This program will offer excellent work experience right on the Cocoa Beach campus, with access to aqua tanks and a greenhouse.

In addition, students will grow seagrass and cultivate oysters, clams, and mummichogs, a fish in the Indian River Lagoon.

Students who participate in the program will have the opportunity to earn a variety of certifications preparing them to be leaders in this field once they graduate.

The Aqua Science program will partner closely with the Brevard Zoo for student internship opportunities and real-world engagement with professionals in this field in our community.
